Book: the dynamic laws of prayer

i am reading this book called “the dynamic laws of prayer” by catherine ponder.  it is one of the books required by the spiritual counseling certification course i am taking.   i am half way through and already find it useful.  this book covers the definition of prayer, different levels of prayers, and how to apply prayers correctly and effectively.  according to this book, the first step is to cleanse, release, and forgive so that we have room for more beautiful things and people to arrive.  it seems easy to do.  i gave it a try when i meditated last night.  i was surprised how much emotional junk i accumulated when i practiced releasing them and forgiving myself.  i feel lighter now.  i am eager to test the healing prayer, prosperity prayer, and more.   i am glad that i have found another powerful tool to enrich my spiritual growth and to apply in my practice.

i recommend this book.

Book: ask and it is given by abrham and hicks

this book has been on the best seller list for some time.  i read it about three years ago.  at the time, the powder of manifestation was introduced and lots of people found it intriguing including me.  it demonstrated exactly a famous Chinese proverb which says “what the heart desires, it shall come true.”

this book explains and includes simple exercises helping readers cultivate positive thoughts and attitudes which later may bring positive outcome to life.

as i was taught only negative beliefs growing up, the gears in my head were always driving me to the negative direction.  it was difficult to switch sides.  seeing things from the positive angel for the first time was scary.  well, i didn’t have any choice either that or going back to the black hole.  after practicing, practicing and more practicing, i saw the light behind this secret and learned to gradually trust it.

in the scary world of unknown and stared my business without any related experiences, the power of manifestation became the only lifeline i held on to.  still now, i am practicing positive thinking when facing challenging scenarios.

this book helped me.  i am sure it will also help those who are ready to see things from different angles.

follow up: buckwheat pillows

Filed under: self care — by Dr. Chou @ 2:41 pm

after 6 months of using my buckwheat pillow every night, I still like it very much.  it maintains the qualities of being refreshing and support to my neck.

the only thing i found it uncomfortable is that it looses its shape too easily after i fit it under my head and neck the perfect angel.  this could due to the over sized pillow case i used.  it simply gives the sack of buckwheat hulls too much room to move around.  i shall try to locate a small pillow case and see if this can solve the problem.

still, it’s a great organic pillow.

recommend: buckwheat pillows

Filed under: better happier life, self care — by Dr. Chou @ 10:06 pm

after trying many different pillows over the years, i settled on a buckwheat pillow.  it is not fancy like memory foam.  it’s just a pillow filled with buckwheat hulls.  it can be shaped and is firm enough to support the neck in different sleeping positions.  it feels cool and refreshing throughout the night.

for people with neck pain/stiffness issues, i strongly recommend this type of pillows.  there are many selections on amazon.

what do you like to see yourself accomplish? it’s ok to be creative!

Filed under: better happier life, holistic, manifestation, thoughts to share — by Dr. Chou @ 9:35 pm

another year just kicked in.  well a half of January has passed.  talking about new year’s resolutions, friends have shared some of their great ideas.  me?  my lesson is to take better care of myself.  for some reasons, i believed that taking care of myself was a selfish act or better yet, i didn’t believe that i was worthwhile.  after many lessons learned, i now believe that the “me” is a necessary vehicle to accomplish my work, goals, and dreams for this life time around.  well, if i have my car maintained regularly, why can’t i maintain or update myself the same?

new year also delivered a brand new idea.  i thought why not make a “manifestation list” where i would like to see myself accomplish such as more studies, travel to, continue to be a better person, help those ready to be helped in my line of work, and many more.  this now definitely sounds more positive than a new year’s resolution list.  with resolutions, it usually exhausts more painful efforts to look at my faults and try to turn the table around.  unfortunately it also usually takes next 3 or more years to accomplish it or never.

they say that it takes 21 days to form a new habit or to let go one.  the manifestation list definitely helps one direct energy creatively to attract new things, new people, new energy etc.  a new healthy habit surely can replace an old one quicker.

what do you like to see yourself accomplish in 2009?

change of plans_care for myself now

Filed under: thoughts to share — by Dr. Chou @ 10:44 pm

my plans for this holiday season was working on 12/23 and 12/30 to conclude the year and take a couple road trips in between those days off.  traveling is very important to me.  I am always able to feel recharged, refreshed, allowing new flow of ideas, and new plans or perspectives for things.  i like to visit places that i haven’t been to, even just a little town on the map.

and things couldn’t go my way this time.  i caught the flu and my body gave in after barely hang on to work on the 23rd.  well, this time, it’s the whole nine yards, the usual package people get and my old asthma attacks.  oh, boy, i thought i was going to die as i fought so hard to grasp little air into my lungs.  as usual, i refused to take any cold medicine.  but i had to surrender, and to use an inhaler which saved my life.  yes, i administered the acupuncture, the herbs, gua sha, and cupping.  but it seemed that after a year of hard working, my body needed to recoup.  it forced me to stay in bed for a few days and slept a good number of hours.  i was even able to working on some of my beading jewelry projects, updating biz web site, studying lessons from astrology certification course i signed up, and watch some old macgyver tv episodes.  i felt guilty of slow down.

i was first upset about my plans gone into the thin air.  but if this was what the universe had in mind for me, i am ok with it now.  it’s another exercise for me to learn looking at things from different angles, to appreciate, and to be peaceful with the experience.

web site: http://omnivos.com/

Filed under: suggested products, sites or stores — by Dr. Chou @ 9:10 pm

one of my recent interests is sound therapy.  i was introduced to crystal singing bowls before.  i finally did a search online and found a decent site to purchase them from.  This is Omnivos therapies.  they carry a huge selection of sound therapy tools.  prices are fair and the site pages are neat and easy on the eyes.  i was  amazed by how courteous, knowledgeable  and helpful the owner was.  i appreciate his recommendation on crystal singing bowls and tuning forks that i ordered.

even though i am still new to sound therapy, i strongly believe that it must hold certain values in holistic healing.  imagine that if we don’t like to hear loud squeaky noise screaming in our ears, how the pleasant sound can be therapeutic then.

first public presentation

Filed under: thoughts to share — by Dr. Chou @ 2:49 am

just as i worked up the courage thinking to myself that i will try to offer some classes in my office and present what i do to the local communities, i received an invitation to talk about acupuncture and hypnosis at canada college in redwood city.  i was very excited yet nervous the same time because this hit me right on the spot of  fear of pubic speaking.  even so, i appreciate this chance to try myself.

as it got closer to the date, i became more anxious.  finally the time came and i did it.  i considered it went well.  30 minutes talk turned into 100 minutes.  i didn’t run out of things to say. thank goodness.

i appreciate this chance very much.  it was a great warm up for my future plans of more public speaking.  once i feel that i’ve been there and done that, the rest should be easier.

the 2009 class schedule and event list is under “events” page on our web site.

Filed under: News — by Dr. Chou @ 12:51 am

as of November 1st, we moved into the new office.  susan and I finally settled in.  this office is more spacious with two rooms for acupuncture and one for massage. we are very excited!

originally i had the plan to expand next summer.  and that was if things were going the right direction.  ever since susan boarded the ship this year as our massage therapist, the business picked up a faster pace.  my patients just love her.  we are now ready to work towards more goals ahead.

and this has been the 3rd year after lotus healing going on its own, i appreciate the support from all patients i have worked with and friends.  i am looking forward to meeting and working with more people ready to explore the benefits of acupuncture and the holistic approach to their health.

please spread the words for us if you have experienced our good work.  if not, give us a call, we are ready to work with you and help you make the difference.
